Every year, the GDCh collects comprehensive data at all universities with chemistry degree programmes on the number of students in the various study phases, the number of examinations taken, their assessments and the duration of study. Information is also collected on career entry after the Bachelor's, Master's and doctorate. The GDCh is supported in the survey by the chemistry departments at the universities. The statistics are published annually at the beginning of July.

The proportion of female C3 and C4 professors was also surveyed. The survey is conducted every two years.
