We, the senior members of the Public Relations Working Group (AK), communicate the concerns of senior chemistry experts to the outside world and within the GDCh. We improve the public's understanding of fundamental chemical relationships. To this end, we offer our expertise and experience on a voluntary basis. The spokesperson for the working group is Dr Wolfgang Gerhartz.
The Public Relations Working Group establishes contacts and expands networks, disseminates information, strengthens the identity of the Senior Chemistry Experts and encourages new Senior Chemistry Experts to become involved.
We also see it as our task to strengthen the sense of togetherness of the seniors and the community awareness of the SEC as well as communication within the GDCh and the two SEC working groups. To this end, we organise regional and national conferences such as the SEC annual meetings, joint excursions and lecture events.
We also activate senior citizens at local association level - in collaboration with the School Education and Career working group - and establish and deepen contacts with young chemists' forums as well as senior citizens and active members at all levels. In this way, all members organised in the GDCh can continue to identify with the GDCh as senior citizens and, where possible, encourage colleagues to join or rejoin. We therefore organise our activities as follows:
The Network working group, which existed until December 2019, was merged with the Public Relations working group at this point in time.
Dr Wolfgang Gerhartz is the spokesperson for the Public Relations working group. His deputy is Dr Klaus-Dieter Franz
